Doppler Profiler

The boat has two Sontek Doppler profilers, model ADP, one of 1000 kHz to measure sea flows up to a depth of 40 m and another one of 500 kHz that reaches a depth of 100 m. These two devices are of great versatility.

• Capable to measure current intensity and direction in the entire water column.

• Pressure sensor for tide measurement (with cast anchor it is used as a tide gauge).

• Spatial measurement of sea current data by towing the device to the boat (bottom tracking) and enhancing the system with an entry of GPS data.

• Directional wave measurement (spatial distribution of the waves’ energy, statistical wave parameters, temporal series, etc.).

• Software for the post-processing of current data and directional waves (Current Surveyor, View ADP and Sonwave Pro).
